Love and marriage novels is an important part of Chinese ancient novels, which containsand reflects the social reality and people’s love concept, aesthetic idea,marriage and family format that time, etc. Its connotation is very rich, but the study of Song dynasty love and marriagenovels hasn’t cause the attention of researchers. In Song legend and Song script for story-telling,taking marriage material as specific research is still limited. Though some treatise and essaysmention marriage material, due to different angles or space limited, it hasn’t been studiedroundly and in-depth. The study of the Song dynasty novels is still a weak link in the study ofancient novels, especially the marriage thesis, which need strengthen dynamics and depth of theargument more. This article aims to elucidate roundly and systematically on this thesis to revealrich and thick zeitgeist the song dynasty novel contained.This article is divided into six chapters. The first chapter introduce the origin of love andmarriage novels of song dynasty and the general status of current research.The second chapter is detailed analysis about love and marriage novels of song dynastyfrom three categories respectively, and discuss its cultural connotations.The third chapter focuses on displaying characteristics of men, women and other image inlove and marriage novels of song dynasty.The fourth chapter makes a survey and analysis on the concept of marriage in Song loveand marriage novels.The fifth chapter discuss the influence love and marriage novels of song dynasty has madeto children literature.
