Try To Talk About Chinese Contemporary Realistic Oil Painting In The Poetic Mood

Poetry is always regarded as the core spirit in traditional Chinese culture. Nowadays, under the influence of diversified cultures, aesthetic conceptions keep changing, this unavoidably infuses a new vigor into the development of Chinese oil paintings. The realistic oil paintings have already got unfettered from the monotonous expression of ideas and emotions, and developed into a new style called neo-realism. This evolution signifies an inheriting of the realistic tradition with a new form, a revolution of adopting new visual factors in oil paintings, and a probe into nationality and spirit of the age with new perspective and idea.The pursuit of freehand style and the poetic realm in traditional Chinese paintings can date back thousands of years. With the development of Chinese oil paintings, the realistic oil paintings have gradually incorporated traditional Chinese culture into western aesthetics, ushering in a new era for Chinese realistic oil paintings. This thesis, tracing the development of Chinese realistic oil paintings and analyzing the aesthetics embodied in it, attempts to study the poetic emotions in contemporary realistic Chinese oil paintings.This thesis is composed of three chapters except the introduction which briefly introduces the definition of realistic oil paintings and gives an outline of its development in China. Chapter one, based on the study of the evolution of different understandings of realism and breakthrough of techniques in Chinese oil paintings, analyzes the lack of poetic emotions in Chinese realistic oil paintings. Chapter two as the key of this thesis mainly discusses the return to the traditional culture in contemporary Chinese oil painting circle. This retum, greatly influenced by the traditional Chinese culture and the spirit of art, brings the poetic emotions back to the realistic oil paintings. Chapter three discusses the significance of incorporating poetic emotions into Chinese realistic oil paintings. In conclusion, we think the poetic emotions as the spirit of traditional Chinese art will lead Chinese realistic oil paintings onto a new way.
