Surging with the tides of history, murals have also been accompanied by the development of human civilization and technology. They have evolved from a simple wall drawings depicted in ancient temples, tombs, and in other forms as well. After reform and opening up, the Beijing airport mural served as a starting point,with a dazzling wide range of modern mural art including multimedia murals.Due to continuous innovation, development, and practice of modern artists, many types of murals in various forms have been popping up. One of the most interesting types is the "rookie" dubbed "Hollow Mural". Not only is this hollow Mural inherited from ancient architecture, but also in various forms of folk art and other traditional elements. It is fast becoming a new mural being displayed to the public in public areas. It is a unique art form that is working its way up to the next level in the field of new mural creation and construction.Not only is hollow space mural just an art, it is an art that converts the "negative" space into something people also find pleasing to the eyes. Its spatial effects rely on a variety of positive and negative space conversion so that both are used to create an effect. It is achieved by studying the positive and negative space conversion at the root of the hollow areas in the mural works. The positive and negative areas become important in how the converted the outcome and result of the mural design are portrayed. This is the core idea in this paper. The first two segments of the argument will be made with traced and inquisitive research. How to achieve the core usage of positive and negative space conversion will be the subject with many factors included. The positive and negative spaces are an important part of the design and rely on the Hollow Mural artists ability to think about the composition in terms of both the positive and negative areas of the mural’s final composition. The third part is an in depth exploration with elaborated thoughts and inquiries. In the fourth part, is an analysis of how the hollowing out of mural designs is instituted, an introduction of all angles of the aesthetic features and the artistic effects. The final part consists of basic research on the conversion of positive and negative mural spaces, as well as, hollow mural prospects and innovation through personal views and expectations.
