| Face recognition has always been an important research area of psychology, and to recognize the other race’s faces is closely related to people’s life, so research on the Other Race Effect get more and more popular. The existing researches focus on the comparison between the faces of European-American countries and Asian countries or the faces of African countries, while China is a multi-nationalities country which owns internal ethnic effect. Speaking of which, due to unique Uygur Ethnic Face there’s only two exclusive research in China that is relevant to Uygur Ethnic Face. So far, no more other minorities involved under current circumstances.Uygur is one of the55ethnic minorities according to China’s official statistics most of them living in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, as well as some foreign cities. The face of Uighurs has the common features as the Arabs or the characteristic circle of Whites, specifically long-round face, more developed brow ridge, large-round and sunken eyes, straight or slightly convex nose, noticeable nasal depth and nasal Quito is down, heavy beard and hair, all of which distinguish from Han’s. Studies have shown that the Uighur people’s eyes, nose and facial spacing significantly different from Han.Currently the majority of Uighurs live in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, but the researcher is not the native nor local resident, that’s why we’re still facing big challenges to testify the research. After investigating the Uighur students on campus, they don’t like head to be touched, because of which they’re not invited to the ERP experiment.The two experiments in this study includes behavioral experiment and ERP, which is to study the Other Race Effect between Uighur faces and Han faces. The behavioral experiment echoed Learning-Recognition paradigm to study the effect among the Uighur natives, the Han residents live in Xinjiang, and the normal Han people. The results showed the Other Race Effect exists among three groups subject, the Han subjects who lived in Xinjiang are much better recognition in terms of Uyghur face than others. For ERP, on the basis of the behavioral experiment taking advantage of ERP technique to measure the EEG differences of the normal Han race in the process of learning two different ethnicities’ faces. The results showed that the normal Han subjects’ EEG differences mainly in the N250amplitude, the other race’s faces will induce greater volatility of the N250. |
