John Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) and Frederic Francois Chopin (1810-1849) are the representative of Baroque and romanticism musician. Their influence of music creation, the variety of music genres, the profound connotation within compositions, have made amazing achievements. In particular, Bach’s composition of the Well-Tempered Clavier is the most profound Baroque polyphony at that time. This paper will talk about the source of their creative thinking through the analysis of the two composers writing characteristics. This kind of thinking is structural, can be used for finding the connection between the two composers. And to better understand the structural creation thought is to analyze the. pattern of music construction. So, the article gives the definition of the pattern of music construction, and also provides a way to analyze it. In the full understanding of definition and analysis methods of the pattern of music construction, the paper uses the harmony, melody, rhythm, texture, speed, playing method, ornaments and a series of pattern of music construction, to analyzes on some works of Bach’s the Well-Tempered Clavier and Chopin’s piano works. Then, it turns out that the compositions of Bach’s Well-Tempered Clavier and Chopin are closely connected.
