Research On Characteristics Brain Functioning Of Mathematically Genius

Most national study of gifted and talented children focus on their education anddevelopment,few study have explore their feature of cognition and brain function.Mathematics gifted adolescent—a special case of gifted and talented children. They havehighly developed mathematical reasoning ability,which is the core competence in scienceand engineering research. Western researchers had find two important characteristics oftheir brain functioning by researches:they have enhanced right hemisphere advantage andenhanced interactions between hemisphere.Whether the Chinese mathematical genius havethe same conclusion? According to this problem,this study explore the characteristics ofbrain functioning of Chinese mathematical genius by two behavioral experiments.Experiment1:a free-vision chimeric face task(Each chimeric stimulus consists of twojoined half-faces,either a leftside smile and a rightside neutral pose (leftside/neutral), or arightside smile and a leftside neutral pose (rightside/neutral). members of both groupstended to judge the leftside smile/rightside neutral half-faces as “happier”,a patternindicative of left hemisphere(LH) or right hemisphere (RH) arousal in judging emotioninformation.Experiment2:hierarchical letter pairs (Each stimulus was composed of capitalletters and made up of smaller elements),participants made two stimulus presented inLVF-RH,RVF-LH and bilateral match-no match judgment(with half the number judging atthe global level and the others at the local level)In this study we had such conclusions: members of both groups tended to judge therightside smile/lefttside neutral half-faces as “happier”,a pattern indicative of enhanced lefthemisphere (LH) arousal,there was no significant difference in the groups and gender.Inthe experiment2,for the average-ability,the result was congruent with earlier research:theLH was faster for local matches and the RH for global matches.While the gifted showedLH advantage in the local processing and a certain degree of enhanced interactionsbetween hemispheres in the global processing.This These results suggest that enhanced LHadvantage and enhanced interhemispheric interaction in some degree,which is the unique function of Chinese mathematical genius and also reflects the influence of education ofChina.
