| The tombs in the state of Wei in the south of Shanxi Province are researched inthis thesis. The tombs are divided into two types which are the tombs with bronzeritual vessels and those with pottery ritual vessels based on the differences of artifactsburied. The bronzes and potteries buried in the tombs are analyzed topologicallyaccording to the shapes evolution of vessels. Combining the differences of theassemblages, decorative designs and the shapes and structures of tombs, the tombs aredivided into two groups, each of which has distinct cultural appearances anddevelopment systems. The exotic cultural factors of each group are analyzed. Thecorrespondences of the two groups are discovered based on the co-existence of thetwo groups, and then research chronologically. Finally, the natures, developments andhistorical backgrounds in decreases of the two groups of tombs are discussed.There are seven parts in this thesis.Part One: IntroductionDefine the objects and temporal-spatial frameworks of this thesis; summarize theformal research results and current situation.Part Two: Shapes&Structures, Coffins, Patterns and Types of the TombsIntroduce the shapes and structures of the tombs; summarize the coffins, patternsand the positions of the artifacts buried of the tombs.Distinguish the tombs into two types, the tombs with bronze ritual vessels andwith pottery ritual vessels, summarize the main characteristics of each type.Part Three: Analyses the Typical Vessels TypologicallyDivide the bronzes and potteries in the tombs into different subtypes; define theevolutionary laws of each kind of vessels.Part Four: Tombs Groups DivisionsDivide the tombs in the state of Wei in the south of Shanxi Province into AnyiGroup and Xintian Group based on the shapes&structures, assemblages anddecorations; compare the two tombs with each other.
