Investigation And Research On Zhuizi In The South Of Shanxi Province

Referred to as "Zhuiqin" or "Zhuiqin book", "Henan Zhuizi" is named after the accompaniment of musical instruments "Zhuiqin". The music is a kind of folk music based on " Daoqing " and " Yingge Liu ", coupled with the influence of other opera and folk music.Henan Zhuizi was introduced into Shanxi Province and had an expanding effect on the area, especially in the south of Shanxi Province.After continuous development and innovation, original Henan Zhuizi gradually developed with the local language characteristic, characteristic melody and folk characteristics. It was widely welcomed by local people and artists, which resulted that local folk art forms could not compete in the area of Shanxi south. At present, Zhuizi in Shanxi south is generally named "story-telling".The Zhuizi was founded in Kaifeng,in Daoguang.It has been welcomed by the masses immediately. Then spreaded to the surrounding area quickly. Specific time and place which Henan Zhuizi was populared in is not researched. It is known that the zhuizi was accomplished in Shanxi south in the middle of the 19 th century. In the late 19 th Century, zhuizi was settled down in the region, and its impact was expanding. Henan Zhuizi had become a main sort of classfication for a period of time in some places. Henan Zhuizi artists were invited to the concert for folk things, such as birthday, votive, weddings and funerals. Zhuizi mainly were populared in Shanxi south.Zhuizi is generated by Zhui Hu which is a stringed instrument changed from Bowed Plucked Instrument. Early dawn by a python pendant sanxian restructuring. Its pure soft sound which can imitate the human voice is populared by the masses. Later, the art of Zhuizi is enriched by adding the simple version, Bajiao Gu, feet hit the board, the Zhuizi rich musical art. With the development of the art of the Zhuiqin and combined with other folk, they form a Zhuiqin of today’s music.In the folk storytelling activity, household votive and temple fair are in the majority.Moreover, vow activity, Buddha memorial and so on are relatively few. In Jinnan region, some theatre performance about Zhuizi has been declining. At present, votive folk performance occupies a dominant position, with strong characteristics of folk customs.Zhuizi’s scripts develop constantly, and gradually form as the local performance script. A large number of ancient traditional scripts are remained, and many local artists’ scripts provide valuable text material for research. According to the existing drama and survey, the author collected 117 repertoire, which including 35 traditional repertoire, 5 modern repertoire and 77 short repertoire. These precious raw materials provide favorable conditions for the development of Jinnan Zhuizi.With the progress of society and the diverse forms development of entertainment, the status of the Zhuizi in Jinnan region are not optimistic. On May 20, 2006, with the approval of the State Council, Zhuizi was included in the first batch of national non material cultural heritage protection list.And this initiative plays a positive role for the protection and inheritance of the Zhuizi.This paper combines the drama and folklore, based on the raw material and literature records. Its origin, development, characteristic of music, Characteristic of performance, activities, drama scripts, status and protection in the southern Shanxi Province are investigated and discussed detailedly, so that people are able to improve a comprehensive understanding of the Shanxi Zhuizi which make Zhuiqin to propagate and develop.
