| As a kind of technical translation, legal translation is a type of translational activityinvolving special language use, that is, language for a special purpose in the context oflaw. The translation of legal documents can easily have legal effects and may even be acause of a war, which makes it different from the translation of other texts such asliterary translation. Legal translation should be extremely precise and accurate in orderto avoid unnecessary misunderstandings, losses, disputes, etc. Legal terms are of greatimportance and significance in legal translation, for they are the bricks of the legal texts. Therefore, the study of translation of legal terms has a great significance. What’s more, the past few years have witnessed increasingly frequent internationalcommunication and exchanges. With the rapid development of the communication andcooperation between China and other countries, legal translation has become more andmore important in legal exchanges. The great demand for legal translation in China notonly provides enormous opportunities but also poses challenges for translators.
