Geographical And Social Research On The Dialect In Huilongxu Town, Jiangyong County Of Hunan Province

This paper,based on fieldwork,using geographical linguistics and sociolinguistics methods,combined with senior research, conducted a preliminary analysis and discussion on dialect in three administrative villages of Huilongxu Town, Jiangyong County, Yongzhou City, Hunan Province.Analysising from the perspective of geography linguistic, most of the phonetic characteristics in the internal of Huilongxu Town dialect is basically consistent. In the aspect of phonology, the internal features of Huilongxu Town dialect are basically the same, this phenomenon is mainly affected by two non-linguistic factors—geography and traffic. In the aspect of vocabulary, there are differences between Yanxia Village and other villages about three words "hole"," shake","you", any other words in Huilongxu Town are consistent."Spider","frog","ants",Some of these animal words come from the ancient Baiyue language, some are similar to Chengguan dialect. The word "Dad" exists two different pronunciations in new and old-fashioned people. There are three different pronunciations about the word "You", which has two different versions in Yanxia Village, that mainly influenced by immigration factors in the history.Analysising from the perspective of social linguistics, the author discusses social factors that caused language variation mainly from the historical, traffic, age, and educational level. It found that the most important communicative language in Huilongxu Town is dialect, Jiangyong-mandarin second and mandarin third. The locals use dialect in the family, village and neighboring villages, Jiangyong-mandarin and mandarin are primarily used in government agencies, schools and other public places, especially when locals communicate with people from other places. Mandarin in Huilongxu Town is popular well, the position of dialect exsists downward crisis but still not endangered.The locals fully recognize the sense of belonging that dialect embodied, dialect will continue to be used over a very long period. The locals know little about Jiangyong women’s script and it’s culture, most people only heard, but could neither speak nor write, nor the willingness to learn. But people generally advocate propaganda on Jiangyong women’s script.Based on the investigation and study,the article draws the following conclusions: The first point, according to the similarity principle, Huilongxu Town dialect can be belonging to the Chengguan dialect;The second point, influenced by traffic and geographical factors, internal features of Huilongxu Town dialect is basically the same.
