Wayne Booth for the first time by the proposed "unreliable narrative" as an important narrative strategy, triggered a wave of research at home and abroad, especially the unreliable narrator in foreign literature frequently appeared, which attracted a lot of attention. The novels in Chinese new period also appeared a large number of unreliable narrators, although these narrators have different forms in different works, but their causes, inherent characters and aesthetic tension have some similarities, so it is necessary to research.This thesis will from the focus theory and implied author’s point of view, to explore the reasons why the unreliable narrators appeared in the novels of Chinese new period, and then combined a large number of novels with the new period of representative works, to study these three case categories. The Introduction mainly focuses on the research status of unreliable narration to illustrate the significance and the value of this article. First chapter focus on the theory of unreliable narrator, and interpret unreliability from the perspective of the narrative, angle of view and the narrator, then combined with domestic and international economic transformation, social transformation, to explore the reasons for large numbers of unreliable narrators appeared in the novels of Chinese new period. Then devide the unreliable narrators of the novels in the new period into children narrator, himself narrator and insane narrator. Chapter II combined the specific novels with the theory of the limited knowledge, the edge and irony, to summarize the characteristics of the unreliable narrators in the Chinese new period. Chapter III will select some representative novels of these three categories, from the perspective of the narrator to analyze<Little Red Flowers><Red Poppy>and<Shanxi Opera>. The final chapter will focuses on the aesthetic tension of the unreliable narrators in the novels of Chinese new period, and then focus attention on the construction of the unreliable narrators, such as text strangeness, poetization and polyphony, explain its aesthetic qualities such as irony, dislocation and metaphor, in order to investigate the reasons for the novels in new period selected unreliable narrators and the value of the unreliable narrators.The study of unreliable narrator in Chinese new period is still fresh but important. The using of unreliable narrator is not the few writers’choices, but on the basis of the common social history factors and the writers’aesthetic demands. These unreliable narrators which mould by the writer, provide some valuable theories to the diversified development of the novel.
