In recent years, domestic tank area fire accidents causes heavy casualties and property loss. In this paper, the actual project as background, according to the project requirements, the fire detection node based on wireless sensor network is designed. The node is part of the tank area fire monitoring system, mainly for collection and transmission the information of fire. This paper briefly describes the investigation of the environmental and fire safety of tank area, then according to the tank area environment and the law of fire, choose the amount of fire detection according to, analyse the function and technical specification of the fire detection node. Accordingly, propose overall design of the node, and complete the specific hardware and software design based on this.According to different functions and modular design, the node is divided into the controller board and the sensor board. The main control board forms the power supply module, the CC2530module, the LPC1225module and the serial communication module; sensor board is mainly composed of the sensor arrays module, including temperature module, humidity module, smoke module, the module combustible gases, carbon monoxide module, carbon dioxide modules and relay modules.Mainly hardware design completes the chip selection and the circuit design, etc.; software design completes the main and module drivers program design, etc; gas sensor calibration uses of physical models and support vector machine algorithm calibration, introduces the gas sensor calibration experiments, gives the calibration results, comparative analyse of the two methods. Finally, this paper describes the commissioning process and the results of the node of each module, and gives the experiment operation of the node in the tank area fire simulation. Experimental results show that the node has initially achieved the required functions.
