The research of Tower technology in our country began from1970s, and reached the peak at the beginning of the century. After many attempts, simplifying had become the new trend of development. In this paper, we developed a new dual flow tray--(Runde tray) in the base of the well-known Linde tray.6Runde trays of2structures were test by air/water in the combined multifunctional tower experimental device of Northwest University&three dimensional distillation Engineering Technology Research Center (Patent No.:ZL201110067233.X). Hydraulic parameters such as dry pressure drop, total pressure drop, height of clear liquid, average height of foam, flood gas velocity.were measured in different load. After analysis and comparison of the data, the most appropriate industrialized structure trays and optimized fixed valve ratio were achieved. The contrast test was carried in the same condition. When fixed valves were added in the back of traditional sieve dual flow tray, then a simplified structure sieve Runde tray got. Inverted fixed valves, like micro down comers enhance mass transfer by distribute the liquid uniformity. During the operation of the tray mass transfer occurs twice. Gases through the sieve rip into the clean water when the bubble mass transfer appear, which is the first mass transfer. As F factor increasing, the pattern of liquid dropping in fixed valves turns from rain flow to the flat jet with a liquid film. Second mass transfer occurs when gas passes through the liquid film. Within the range of operating flexibility, compared with conventional sieve dual flow tray, its pressure drop is45.1%higher, gas holdup is30.9%higher, flooding gas velocity is36.4%higher. In a certain spray density, the pressure drop increases, gas holdup and the height of clean water and foam increased gradually with F factor increases. In the F factor unchanged, the flooding gas velocity decreases with the spray density increases. Operating flexibility of sieve Runde tray is51.4%lager than conventional sieve dual flow tray on average. After comparing of hydrodynamic performance and operating flexibility on different fixed valves ratio sieve Runde trays, the optimized fixed valves ratio was33.3%.
