Large forgings are the fundamental workpieces of heavy machines andequipments. Dimension measurement is a critical step in the manufacturingprocess. However, some problem to handle these hot forgings often occurs dueto the huge volume and high temperature. In recent years, the forging industry,to a great extent, still rely on manual inspection and measuring, which existsproduction problems like great error, long production period and high potentialsafety hazard. Therefore, more accurate measuring equipment and technology inforging process is desirable.Good accuracy and instantaneity has always been measurement goal, on thebasis of CCD dimensional measurement system,this paper put forward usingDSP instead of computer to process the data. Research work can be list asfollows:(1) Firstly, This paper introduces the relevant principle and parameters ofCCD and DSP, then put forward to use DSP instead of computer as the core dataprocessing unit in the light of previous studies, and selects the key device, set upthe experimental platform aimed to solve problems in forging process.(2) Secondly, the paper introduces the software development process basedon CCS platform, then build the general frame of digital image processing underthe DSP/BIOS real-time operating system by DM642evaluation board,finallyintroduces the design of main program and application function program.(3) Thirdly,some kinds of filtering, edge detection algorithm are comparedand analyzed, and the paper has improved the template and dimensions oftraditional Sobel operator innovatively. Edge detection effect,to some extent,has been improved with the improved algorithm.Experiments show that thealgorithm can meet the realtime demands based on DSP/BIOS real-timeoperating system.(4) Finally, measurement experiment of axial ladder forgings shows thaterrors exist in many links. In view of the source of errors,an improved systemcalibration method for monocular vision measuring system has been put forward. Experiments show that the proposed theories and method can meet the accuracyrequirement.
