"Nei Jing" Pricking Blood Therapy Research

Research objectives: through the research and analysis ofblood-pricking theory in Nei Jing and a systematic review of its originand development, it is hoped that there will be a clearer, more systematicand comprehensive enrichment of the blood-pricking theory and also willbe beneficial to the modern research and clinical exercises.Research methods: this study adopts the literature research method,concentrating on discussions of blood-pricking in Nei Jing, and reviewson previous and modern literature. It also adopts a theory analysis methodto compare and analyze related literature from traditional Chinesemedical perspective.Research results: this study makes a comprehensive analysis andsummary of the theoretical achievements of blood-pricking therapy, whichmainly includes the following four parts:1. A discussion on the originof blood-pricking therapy in Nei Jing, an explanation on the mechanismof blood-pricking therapy from the aspects of removing the pathogens,regulating ying and wei, opening up the vein and fostering healthyatmosphere, and finally an analysis on its active role of "preventivetreatment of disease".It discusses and summarizes major illnesses whichneed to be treated by blood-pricking therapy in Nei Jing, includingvisceral disease, pain, malaria, arthralgia, carbuncle, madness andmiscellaneous diseases.2. A concrete operation of blood-pricking therapyin Nei Jing is discussed, including five issues such as the part of skinto prick blood, tools of blood-pricking, the measure of pricking, theamount of bleeding and the matters needing special attention.3. It talksabout the current situation of blood-pricking theory, put forward somesuggestions on the establishment of Chinese blood-pricking therapy system, further spreading of the clinical application, deepening research for themechanism, and quality enhancing of clinical research.Conclusion:1. The blood-pricking therapy in Nei Jing originated from human’s earlyproduction activities, which is the outcome of medical exercises and alsothe crystallization of human wisdom.The mechanism of blood-prickingtherapy is a relatively comprehensive concept mainly explained asremoving the pathogens, regulating ying and wei, opening up the vein andfostering healthy atmosphere, which is not a single but a collective workin many diseases. The blood-pricking therapy fully reflects theprevention idea of "preventive treatment of disease".2. There is a well-developed discussion on blood-pricking therapy in NeiJing, which scatters in chapters of the book.There are related discussionson issues including the part of skin to prick blood, tools ofblood-pricking, the measure of pricking, the amount of bleeding and thematters needing special attention.Major illnesses that can be treated byblood-pricking therapy include visceral disease, pain, malaria,arthralgia, carbuncle, madness and miscellaneous diseases.3. According to the current situation of blood-pricking research, thereshould be a further development of blood-pricking treatment system, afurther clinical application, a further research on mechanism researchand a quality promotion of clinical research.
