Objective:To research and discuss the short-term clinical efficacy of the K-Rod spinal dynamic stabilization system in the treatment of protrusion of the lumbar intervertebral disc. Methods:The retrospective analysis was made on20patients who suffered with the protrusion of the lumbar intervertebral disc and treated with the K-Rod spinal dynamic stabilization system in Suzhou Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine during2011-08to2013-01.To compare with the ODI scores, the lumbar flexion angle with both the segment of the surgery and the upper segment of the surgery, the height of the surgery intervertebral, the degeneration to the upper segment of the surgery before the surgery, three months after the surgery and one year after the surgery. Results:All patients involved in the research are followed up,13of them have the follow-up over one year. The postoperative lumbar vertebral function at three months after the surgery is better than which before the surgery (t=16.919,P=0.000<0.05,with statistical significance). The postoperative lumbar vertebral function has no change between three months after the surgery and one year after the surgery (t=1.387,P=0.175>0.05,without statistical significance). The lumbar flexion angle with the segment of the surgery has decreased both at three months after the surgery and one year after the surgery (t1=6.716,P1=0.000<0.05, with statistical significance; t2=5.322,P2=0.000<0.05,with statistical significance). The lumbar flexion angle with the upper segment of the surgery has no change among three months after the surgery, one year after the surgery and before the surgery(t1=0.341,P1=0.735>0.05,without statistical significance;t2=1.909,P2=0.066>0.05,without statistical significance). The height of the surgery intervertebral has no change among three months after the surgery, one year after the surgery and before the surgery (t1=1.637, P1=0.108>0.05, without statistical significance; t2=1.173, P2=0.248>0.05, without statistical significance). The degeneration to the upper segment of the surgery has no change among three months after the surgery, one year after the surgery and before the surgery(Z1=0.170,P1=0.865>0.05,without statistical significance;Z2=0.897,P2=0.370>0.05, without statistical significance). Conclusion:The K-Rod spinal dynamic stabilization system can improve the lumbar vertebral function significantly, enhance the stability of the spine, maintain the height of the intervertebral disc, and has nothing to do with the activity and the degeneration to the adjacent segments of the surgery.
