Objective To analyze the Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome pattern of patients with diabetes mellitus(DM) and the relationship of TCM patterns with the different laboratory test index and the prevalance of diabetic chronic complications. And we aim to provide objective theoretic foundations for clinic prevention and cure of diabetes.Methods100patients diagnosed with diabetes mellitus hospitalized in the department of Endocrinology, China-Japan Friendship Hospital from February2014to April2014were involved in this study. There were59male patients and41female patients. Relevant medical history, clinical data were collected in all patients. SPSS20.0was used for analysis. TCM patterns on100cases of diabetes was carried by questionnaire.100patients were divided into three groups according to the scores of TCM patterns. The glycemic level, duration of diabetes and prevalence of diabetic chronic complications in different groups were compared.Results1The majority of diabetes mellitus patients were in middle-aged and old people.2The most common TCM syndrome of patients were Phlegm-Heat cohering type, Qi and Yin deficiency, Yin and Yang deficiency, Turbid Phlegm, Blood stasis(Method1) and Heat Syndrome, Blood Stasis Syndrome, Heart Deficiency, Kidney Deficiency,Pathogenic Fire(Method2).3Among the patients in TCM syndrome type of Phlegm-Heat cohering type, Turbid Phlegm, Heat Syndrome and Pathogenic Fire, the average waist line and BMI of Group3was lower than the other2groups.4Fasting plasma glucose and fasting serum C-peptide in the3rd group were higher than those of the other two groups in the syndrome of Phlegm-Heat cohering type, Turbid Phlegm, Heat Syndrome and Pathogenic Fire. Meanwhile, HOMA-βand HOMA-IR were higher in the3rd groups, which increased with integration. Compared with the rest two groups,TG,CHO,LDL levels of the3rd group were significantly higher(P<0.05) with the syndrome of Phlegm-Heat cohering type, Turbid Phlegm, Heat Syndrome and Pathogenic Fire.5The prevalence of diabetic peripheral neuropathy in the3rd group is higher than the other groups in Blood Stasis Syndrome.Conclusion:1BMI was positively correlated with the syndrome of Phlegm-Heat cohering type, Turbid Phlegm, Heat Syndrome and Pathogenic Fire.2The prevalence of glucose metabolism disorders, lipid metabolism disorders and fatty liver is associated with Phlegm-Heat cohering type, Turbid Phlegm, Heat Syndrome and Pathogenic Fire Type,3In diabetes mellitus, the elder patients are more likely to have Kidney Deficiency.4The Formation of blood stasis in the course of diabeties is one of the etiology of diabetic peripheral neuropathy.
