Edward George Glover (1888-1972) is a famous psychologist in his days in Britain and a faithful follower of freudisme. In the Freud-Klein controversies, as Anna’s ally, he perseveres in the position of ego psychology, promoting the development of ego psychology to move forward a single step. He discusses the structure of the mind, the dynamic aspects of mind, the phase of mental development, the economics mind and the nuclear theory of ego-formation. He explores analysis technics and its practical application for all life. Depending on that, he comes up with his own pathology opinions and discusses symptom formation. Basing on that, he classifies the symptom as neurotic character, psychoneuroses, psychoses and transitional group. Moreover, he believes that if psychanalysis wants to be a science, it should follow some criterions. That is to say, in addition to evaluate the therapeutic effect, therapeutic criteria of psycho-analysis should include metapsychological criterion, clinical criterion and methodological criterion. Furthermore, he also elaborates the therapeutic effect of inexact interpretation. In his later years, he is fascinated with deviants from society and deviationists from psychoanalysis, advocating combining psychoanalysis and criminology to make comprehensive study.Glover’s theoretical contributions to psychoanalysis primarily cover completing concept and theory of ego psychology, developing psychoanalytic treatment technology, expanding psychoanalytic application area and promoting psychoanalytic research in the field of delinquency and crime. His theoretical localization lies in following aspects, having not got rid of Freud’s theory of biological view, having not formed his own theoretical system, and have attributed delinquency and criminal behavior all to mental factors.
