| In the recent decade,3D video producing, a new generation of mainstream leading technology which realizes receiving, broadcasting and displaying of highly live and real visual information, is globally promoting upgrading of digital media and cultural industry, causing emerging competition among various countries in information and displaying technology. As one typical subfield,3D TV documentary has began to develop in many countries, changing people’s life style and way of perception and becoming a significant rising cultural factor in expediting globalization.However, theoretical studies on3D TV documentary still lags behind its speedy spreading on the screen. Exceeding technological development and missing theoretical summarization results in a deletion of theoretical structure on3D TV documentary.In the following four chapters, this article analyzes the dual effects that3D technologies have on3D TV documentaries from the inside to the outside. The research on3D TV documentaries is based on theories in the art of film and television, sociological theories and media theories.The first chapter discusses the characteristics and producing rules of3D TV documentaries. Through analyzing the elements that constitute images of3D TV documentaries and materials, this chapter introduces the tension between technologies and arts and presents unique effects that3D TV documentaries have on the audience.Based on the prior identification of3D TV documentaries’ characteristics, the second chapter concludes the aesthetic value of3D TV documentaries from analyzing breakthroughs and impacts that3D technologies have on the audience’s aesthetic appreciation.The third chapter broaches concerns and critics on3D TV documentaries from the aspects of cultural and sociological studies. It includes both the possibility that3D TV documentaries might diminish the depth of culture and positive meanings.The fourth chapter makes arguments about perspectives of3D TV documentaries in China’s market, advantageous paths and the possibility of survival in the environment of inter-cultural media communication, and predicts corresponding tactics. |
