In China’s Bronze Age, Chinese bronzes, as an important part in religious activities, represent the royal families’ power and wealth of the aristocracy. Animal patterns in the wild, bold designs on the vessels also have very strong overtones in political and religious. The animal patterns consist of clean and strong lines, express in direct ways, deep and natural and decorative. The patterns give rise to the feelings of plain and simple, and strong national characterization. With the time and standards of aesthetic varying, and the progress of bronze-casting technology, mainstream style of bronze animal patterns had reflected the different characteristics in the different periods of the Bronze Age. Their political and religious factors have been gradually replaced by the positive sense in aesthetics, and the aesthetic purposes had also changed from utilitarian to aesthetic. The usage of the Shang bronzes patterns in Lek powder paintings causes the modern decorations stable and abstrace, and injects new vitality into the ancient traditional patterns at the same time. If these traditional patterns from the Chinese Bronze Age are re-examined with the modern aesthetic ideas, it will be found that the ancient spiritual and religious aesthetic ideas have truned into universalive and secular. The designers have changed their design tendency from complication and realization to conciseness and abstraction, in order to satisfy the entertainment views of the public aesthetics. The expression ways of the traditional patterns have also become diversified. In this article, animal patterns in the Shang bronzes will be re-examined and expressed. The thick and rough bronze had been turned into the Lek powder with modern decorative and plane sense. With traditional black, white and red colors being used, modernity had been decorated and the traditional elements had been maintained. The combination of deep cultural heritage and the modern design reflects the featusres from different periods of time.
