The pursuit of happiness has always been the eternal drive for all human beings. The ultimate goal of all human activities is to achieve happiness in life. But, what is realhappiness? Or what type of happiness we should really pursue? What is the right conceptof happiness can really guide us into the hall of happiness? These questions have beenalways puzzled the human race. University students are living in a globalization andsocialist market economic construction era. They’re at the forefront of this generation, with heavy historical and national responsibilities fall upon their shoulders, representingthe hope for the whole nation. As for young university students, having the correctconcept of happiness is extremely important as it will not only impact their owndevelopments, but also influence the prosperity of the nation, as well as the overallprogress of our society. Therefore, no matter it is for the future wellbeing of ouruniversity students themselves, or social progress/development of the country, researchon university students’ concept of happiness, guiding them with the correct believes areextremely important mission for all of us, as it determines the fate of the nation goingforward. In this paper, using the theory of Marxism as a guide, integrating the knowledgeof philosophy, ethics, psychology, pedagogy etc., I’ve done a very in-depth analysis onthis particular topic, together with a detailed discussion on this issue. This thesis is divided into four specific parts:First part of this thesis is introduction, covering topic introduction, its reality andsocial implications, topic’s research review, as well as thinking and innovations behindthis thesis. As for the topic introduction, and the reasons and objectives for selecting thisparticular issue, I’ve outlined specific examples of research and study done previously onthis issue from both domestically and abroad. The second part of this thesis gives an overview of Marxist concept of happiness, including what elements really constituents happiness and its basic implication of happiness. Marxist concept of happiness is built upon the basis of dialectical materialismand historical materialism. The Marxist concept of happiness believes that happiness is acombination of material happiness as well as spiritual happiness, personal happinesstogether with social well-being. It overcomes past studies/researches’ shortcomings onthe concept of happiness, having raised the concept that morality is the cornerstone andprecondition for any happiness, and labor is a real source of happiness, together that thehuman race should objectively look at wealth, treat it as external, rather than internalconditions in order to achieve happiness. This sets the correct guideline for people tocorrectly understand and pursue happiness, pointing all of us in the right direction. The third part started from analyzing what is the current concept of happiness foruniversity students, analyzing information collected via social data and news channels, analyzing and revealing the current situation of their concept of happiness, outlining anumber of outstanding issues they are facing, being money worshiping, hedonism andegoism. Furthermore, realizing some of these issues, I further analyze the reasons fortheir deviation on this concept, including reasons arise from students themselves as wellas impact from external environment, causing distortions of their concept of happiness. The fourth section outlined the believe that university students must establishMarxist concept of happiness as the basic and correct path to pursue happiness throughestablishing long term goals&ideals, cultivate high moral, utilize their wisdom andknowledge, having believes, honor and dedication etc., in order to improve their inherentmoral. In addition, utilizing external social means, promoting people-oriented happinessand the socialist concept of honor and disgrace, improving school and familyenvironment, utilizing both internal and external factors to influence and guide universitystudents’ concept for happiness, in order to achieve in-depth understanding andcomprehensive practice of Marxism concept for the pursuit of happiness.
