Research On The Problem Of Vulnerable Groups In The Transitional Period Of China In Its Process To Achieve Common Prosperity

Since the Reform and Opening-up thirty years, Chinese society has been experiencing the transitional stage in all aspects. The rise of China’s economy has brought great glory to the people, but at the same time, due to the unbalance of social development, intensification of social stratification as well as social conflicts, doubts also arise in terms of the common prosperity of socialism value and goal. Vulnerable groups, though living at the bottom of the society, should never be overlooked by the social system. Instead of becoming a social burden, they should be the key factor of social development. Only when the interests of vulnerable groups become the core social interests and are paid enough attention, could the real concept of people-oriented be implemented, and therefore the requirements of the socialist core value system be met, and the essence of socialist common prosperity be eventually embodied.This paper started by briefing the basic situation of the transitional period, and describing the basic characteristics of the vulnerable groups, and then analyzed the reason why the vulnerable groups came into being and therefore discussed the solutions that could be worked out in order to tackle the problems of the vulnerable groups in the process of realizing the essence of socialism.According to statistics, the number of Chinese vulnerable groups reached1.4-1.8hundred million, therefore solving the problem is of great significance. There is also close link between the vulnerable groups and some key theories such as the concept of the people-oriented, building a harmonious society, scientific outlook on development. The18th National Congress of CPC proposed to accelerate social development with the focus on improving people’s living, without which, there will be no motivation for the people to build the society. The issue of vulnerable groups, greatly influences the overall situation of the people’s living, and will become barrier for the implementation of the reform and development. This essay is supposed not only to be confined to the theoretical level, but also to propose feasible solutions to the issue in the real practice.
