Illegal immigrants mainly refers to the inability to emigrate through normal legal means, thereby take illegal means to achieve immigrants, including illegal entry and exit commonly known as smuggling, entry illegally and after the illegal entry by reason of amnesty to legitimate migrants. After the United States enacted the Chinese Exclusion Act in1882, illegal immigrants appeared, and as a social problem is produced in the1920s. In the1980s, illegal immigration intensified, became the focus of attention of the American community. Although the United States implemented a number of measures and to develop a policy to expel illegal immigrants out of the country, but illegal immigrants are still out of control.This article illustrates the development process of the illegal immigrants in the United States, the reasons and impact on the U.S. economy from the three chapters.The first chapter reviews the development of illegal immigrants. According to the changes of American immigration policy, in the World War Ⅱ as the limits of development process is divided into two stages of the illegal immigrants. Before the World War II, the number of illegal immigrants is not much in American, are in the transition period of free immigration to restrict immigration. While the policy of the United States in World War II caused a large increase in the number of illegal immigrants after the war, especially in the1980s,the influx of illegal immigrants to the United States brought serious social problems.The second chapter analyzes the causes of illegal immigrants in the U.S. The main causes of illegal immigrants in the United States have such as economy, policy and law as well as the personal and social reasons. Economy is the root cause of the illegal immigrants, whereas America’s immigration policy and legal loopholes will increase the number of illegal immigrants and eventually decided to be illegal immigrants is the personal reason, social reasons provide a quick way to illegal immigrants.The third chapter discusses the impact of illegal immigration on the U.S. economy. Because most illegal immigrants are not highly educated, mostly are less than high school education, most engage in simple physical labor, provide U.S. with a lot of cheap labor. At the same time,surplus of cheap labor also reduces the wages of labor, result in the average wages of American workers unable to rise, but also to the U.S. employment, health care and social welfare system has brought a certain impact.
