With the deepening of China’s reform of basic education, the society pays more and more attention onthe goal of science education in order to improve the scientific literacy of students."Basic EducationCurriculum Reform (Trial)" clearly states: to actively change the way students learn, promote inquirylearning. Inquiry learning is to fully develop the students’ ability and an important way to promote theoverall development of students, new century secondary school teaching a comprehensive reform of theactual needs and the ideal choice. In today’s highly developed science and technology, inquiry learningfully reflects the demands of the times, reflecting the underlying trend of the modern curriculum reform isto develop students’ basic scientific literacy especially effective means of natural scientific literacy.Compared to traditional teaching methods, inquiry learning focus on students ’initiative play, promotestudents’ active participation and experience a variety of inquiry-based learning activities, students activelyparticipate in the learning process, access to knowledge in the activities of the problem to be investigated,understanding of scientific methods and ways of thinking, learn a variety of skills required by the Instituteof Science, and understand scientific concepts, and foster a scientific spirit, to improve scientific literacy.Therefore, inquiry learning is a thorough reform of the traditional teaching concepts, teaching modeand form of organization. The purpose of biological disciplines, course content and presentation arecolorful, the most important means of experimental teaching. Through the experiment, teachers can helpstudents form a correct theoretical knowledge, but also for the students of observation, ability, analyticalability, Institute of experimental scientific method is of great significance, biological experiment teachingshould be the most important in the teaching of biology a position. As a biology teacher, focusing onbiological Experimental Teaching is very necessary.Scientific literacy survey results from the public in2010, China’s public scientific literacy level isquite low. We can see that the results of a survey conducted by the students of three secondary schools inZhengzhou, scientific literacy of middle school students above the national average, but still not optimistic.In UK, USA, Canada and other developed countries, the governments have taken a variety of ways toimplement policies to develop the scientific literacy of students. Experimental teaching proved to be the most effective way to improve the scientific literacy of students. However, the current the secondarybiological experiments in China opened worrying situation, due to experimental drugs, equipment, venuesand class constraints, some students can not personally experiment, a serious impact on the effect ofexperimental teaching.This topic is based on "improve secondary school students in the Basic Education Curriculum Reform(Trial)" biological concept of scientific literacy, on the basis of the investigation and analysis of the level ofscience literacy of students as well as experimental capabilities, combined with the actual situation of theexperimental teaching, research and explore through secondary school exploratory experiments teachingways and means to develop students’ level of scientific literacy.
