Under the condition of socialist market economy, labor relations has become one of the most important social relations. Labor relations situation gets the attention of the theoretical circle and governments. This is because the harmony of labor relations relates to the development of productive forces, relates to the stability of social life, and more relates to the vital interests of the enterprise and employees. In the1980s in China,14coastal port cities implement comprehensive opening to the outside world. At this stage, Dalian implemented fully the strategy of opening to the outside world, optimizing the investment environment and actively expanding the areas of opening to the outside. The actual quantity of using foreign direct investment continues to grow and the achievements in opening to the outside world are very remarkable.Dalian and its surrounding areas, labor resources is abundant and workers face huge pressure of employment. The entry of foreign capital enterprise is a good way to ease pressure on employment. At the same time, the foreign enterprise has played a huge role in promoting the development of region economy. After entering the21st century, with the growth of quantity and scale about foreign capital enterprise, labor contradictions is increasingly prominent. By this time, three major influential strikes has erupted in the foreign capital enterprises in Dalian. Meanwhile, on a national scale, the occurrence of events such as the suicides among workers at Foxconn and the Honda strike, make labor contradiction be attracted by the whole society, and cause the academic discussion.The research on this paper has theoretical significance and practical significance. From the theoretical significance, on the basis of strikes occurring in the foreign capital enterprises in Dalian, this paper explored the ways of building a harmonious labor relations. Among the existing research results, the case study is less. The papers specializing in strikes in Dalian are much rarer, so this paper can enrich the existing theories. From a practical perspective, the enterprise’s survival and development rely on talents. Harmonious labor relations is conducive to mobilize the enthusiasm and initiative of employees, which not only make the enterprise recruit talents, at the same time can also ’used properly and retain’. That is conducive to the healthy development of foreign-funded enterprises. Harmonious labor relations can attract more foreign investment and form a virtuous circle. For employees, harmonious labor relations can maintain their vital interests, promote the development of individual and improve the living standards of the employees. At the same time, there is a great significance to promote social stability, establish a good investment environment and build a harmonious society. For our nation, harmonious labor relations can promote the development of economy and guarantee the national stability and security.This paper mainly adopts Documentary Research Method, Case Analysis Method, Qualitative analysis Method, Comparative analysis and other research methods. On the basis of predecessors’ research results and in combination with the practical situation of the case, this paper thoroughly analyses the strikes of foreign capital enterprises in Dalian. Innovation of this article lies in the analysis on the foreign capital enterprises in Dalian strike examples. We can know that, China’s strong capital, weak labor market conditions, both sides of labor and capital inherent conflicts of interest, lack of foreign investment enterprise internal dispute resolution channel and not as the act of union, led to the strike. That fully embodies the combination of theory and reality. And, these strikes also accord with the strike foreign economic theory:Pareto Optimality in advance, strike frequency positive correlation with the economic cycle, etc. Due to the limited literature collection and the level of English reading, this paper studies has certain deficiencies. For example, the description of the actual case is not very detailed, and the combination of foreign theory remains to be further strengthened.This paper consists of five parts and the core content is the third and the fourth part:The first part:Introduction. This part includes the research background and significance, basic train of thought, research methods, the definition of related concepts as well as the innovations and shortcomings of this article.The second part:the summary of labor relations research. This part includes the domestic and overseas introduction of related research, as well as the review of existing theories.The third part:the description about the strikes of foreign enterprises in Dalian. That introduces its specific circumstances including the time, the main body, and the management of the reaction and so on. On this basis, this part extracts the characteristics of the strikes.The fourth part:the analysis of several strike events in Dalian. With the passage of time, the three strikes each have its unique places. This chapter analyses the three strikes about the commonalities and differences, and the principles of economics explains the underlying causes of the strikes.The fifth part:some thoughts about building foreign-capital enterprise harmonious labor relations.
