As a new and comprehensive tourism way combining both sports and tourism, the SportsTourism enjoys an increasing popularity. This sunrise industry, Sports Tourism provides thepower and resources of sustainable development and becomes the breakthrough of the tourismindustry structural optimization and the growth points of tourism development. With theabundant Sports Tourism resources, Liaoning Province lays a sound foundation for the SportsTourism. Liaoning Province seizes the rare opportunity of the development of Liaoning’s SportsTourism by holding the12th National Games. This article investigates, research and analysis theresource, participates and activities based on the Region economy theory, theory of consumer’sbehavior and relevant theories about sports science, in order to put forward the strategic thinkingand provide the reference for the development of Sports Tourism.This article research on the current situation of Liaoning’s Sports Tourism on the literature,investigation and statistics, and also based on the analysis of the research this article also put upthe strategy and measures of development of Sports Tourism.The main conclusions are: first, from the perspective of resource and activities, people arebasically content with the stadiums and big sports events, meanwhile these activities arereceipted by more people and groups, which is good for sustainable development of SportsTourism. However, the activities in Sports Tourism are still not a industry and can meet thedifferent kinds of requires of Sport Travelers; second, based on analysis of the questionnaire, thepresent participants are of higher education level and younger age and they stay in destination fora short time, which means they will not spent much money there. In Liaoning’s Sports Tourismcustomer market, the requirements are different, the purposes are random and the competitionsare seasonal. But the development of Sports Tourism is not strong enough and the SportsTourism production with high quality is not many enough; third, according to Liaoning’s SportsTourism current situation of resources and the feature and requirement of participates, this articleput up the strategic thoughts and targets for Liaoning’s Sports Tourism development, and rise the Liaoning’s Sports Tourism spatial layout model called “one core three rings”, and the Liaoning’sSports Tourism production developing model called “Trinity”; at last, this article proposes themeasure promoting Liaoning’s Sports Tourism from the perspective of production and market ofSports Tourism, governmental support, brand strategy and personnel training.
