Luoxiao mountains is located between Jiangxi and Hunan provinces and it has unique geographical position and complex ecological environment. It is the source of Poyang Lake, Dongting Lake, Ganjiang River and Xiangjiang River. These Rivers and the lakes cross over the three provinces of Hubei, Hunan, Jiangxi, including 14 cities, 55 counties. The complex terrain environment of Luoxiao mountains form a unique ecological ecotone area, and is also a weak area in ecological environment. There are Jiugongshan, Mufushan, Jiulinshan, Guanshan, Wugongshan, Wanyangshan, Qixiling, Taoyuandong, Jinggangshan, Nanfengmian, Bamianshan, Zhuguangshan, Qiyunshan etc. in the ridge line of Luoxiao mountains from north to South. This area is one of very rich regions on biodiversity in the eastern section of the Asian continent. There were although some previous research reports on the biological resources, natural environment, ecological landscape of Luoxiao mountains, but did not carry over comprehensive and in-depth scientific research, lacking of integrality and systematicness. The biological diversity of Luoxiao mountainsis still not so clear.The study is supported by Ministry of Science and Technology. The implementing period is from June 2013 to December 2018. The results of this paper are on the basis of income data analysis and summary up to the end of 2015. The main results are as follows:1. Up to December 2015, 29687 insect specimens were collected from Luoxiao mountains. All the collecting and identifying data are input in the database of Luoxiao mountain insects. So far, a total of 7538 specimens were identified, belonging to 9 orders, 90 families, 422 genera and 625 species, in which 284 species have been reported in previous papers. The research content of this paper is only the data which have not been reported previously(newly increased), including 341 species.2. Newly increased 341 species have been described, including geographical distribution and collecting information. Habitus photos of each species and keys to familes have been provided.3. By using five biodiversity index models, the insect community diversity of Luoxiao mountains were analyzed.4.According to the collecting and identifying data of specimens, the component of insect fauna in different regions of Luoxiao mountains were analyzed and compared.5. According to the specimens and literature data, the component of insect fauna of Luoxiao mountains were analyzed.
