Taking famous marble mining area of Pingbian as the studying area, located in Southeast Yunnan, especially this marble mining area is the regional metamorphic deposit. After the geological survey at field, the thesis choose 5 kinds of calcite marble and 1 dolomitic marble as the sample, then, analysis petrological and mineralogical characteristics of this kind of carbonate marble. So that, we can summary the geological conditions, types of original rocks, ore genesis, structure, tectonic and the diversity of mine types at this mining area. For this thesis, we collect different classification method of marble process at home and abroad, and test the samples of process and performance in the researching area, and discuss the relationship between process characteristic parameter and other contents such as mineral composition, deposit characteristics, genesis, structure and tectonic, and summary the feature of technology, then try to provide a theoretical basis of the marble research.Due to the researches and analysis the original and diggings geological background, deposit characteristics, genesis and feature of technology at Shuitangpo in Pingbian, and testing about the feature of technology, making the classifications, then, compare with other famous marble at home and overseas. Mainly results and achievements are as follows:(1) The original rock, in Shuitangpo mining area, is limestone, which recrystallize marble from marble lens by high heat of the geological movement. Moreover, this kind of metamorphism is regional metamorphism.(2) For carbonate marble, the color of marble has some connection with coloring element of calcite and dolomite, which is the main ore-forming mineral, and minor ore-forming mineral in the rock. Especially, the figure and color of the marble is connected with fault.(3) For nearly the same diagenetic mineral in marble, the denser the degree of mosaic is during the different mineral aggregate, the bigger the glossiness is. For the same diagenetic mineral in marble, the smaller grain in the mineral is, the bigger the glossiness is.(4) The absorbing water of marble is proportional to its natural moisture content, water absorption and binding of diagenetic minerals also have a certain relationship tightness,the weaker water absorption of rock, mineral aggregates between the degree of mosaic is the closer.(5) Carbonate rocks of the compressive strength of marble is relation to the size of diagenetic mineral particle, and mineral aggregates among relevant. Mineral particles is smaller, the marble compressive strength is better, and vice versa; Mosaic mineral aggregates extent between the more closely to its compressive strength is higher; The mineral aggregates between the degree of mosaic is loose, the lower its compressive strength.(6) Marble mining area is formed by regional metamorphism, its ores process performance overall is better, more uniform color distributs pattern, Decorative performance is better.It can be shaped well, is high gloss, compressive strength, low water absorption, which can be widely used in handicrafts, decorative materials, decoration and other fields.
