The need of rare metals have increased rapidly, with development of the sophisticated industries, especially in aerospace and electronics fields, thermometallurgy (electrolysis cell)is still popular in metallurgical industry for signal metal production, under the DC condition, the fused metal ions were around with the negative pole and formed the particular metal in electrolysis cell. However,the molten salt electrolysis cell is poor than the aluminic cell, such as low current efficiency and short cell life. And all of these are influenced by the protection materials, size of the cell and physical fields which contained temperature field, electric field and magnetic field, this paper was mainly focused on the numerical analysis of flow field which can provide the theoretical foundation for practical application.The main content of this article:(1) the effects of gas around the positive pole on the flow field (2) the influence of formed material in negative pole on the fluid flow (3) the combined effect of both gas and material (4)the method of knotlike objects reduction (5) the selection of production material (6) the improvement of3KA electrolysis cell from the above aspects.Achievement:(1)it found that the gas produced by positive pole has a great effect on the electrolyte flow of upper part, and the material formed around the other pole is important to the electrolyte flow of bottom part which is the same as practical application.(2) the gas is concentrated in the distance4cm around the positive pole, near the surface.it is easy to collect gas in these areas.(3)the obstruction is closely related to the electrolyte flow and the deposition of neodymium metal.(4)the improved3KA electrolysis cell is sell at home and board.Improved the efficiency of electrolysis cell and extended equipments lifetime is a meaningful question for study. Due to the complexity of inner structure and large cost in electrolysis cell experiment, therefore, its automation was put off. However, with the effects from Institutes, colleges and universities, it is believable that new type would appear sooner or later.
