Development of human society today, the human society has been improved from both the economic and material perspectives. As the material need of people has been satisfied,they have paid more attention to improve their spiritual enjoyment and aesthetic needs correspondingly. There are 3.6 billion men worldwide and the men population occupies 51 percent of China’s total population. More and more men began to pay attention to their own image. However, the male cosmetics packaging field are still facing a lot of deficiencies. Due to a late start, most of the male cosmetics packaging were designed by mimicking the female cosmetic packaging design. And there are few self-designed male cosmetics packaging to satisfy the aesthetic psychology and the consumer habits of men. These had led to the failure of meeting the needs of the male on male cosmetic packaging design.By contrasting the men and women cosmetic packaging domestic and overseas, this article has found the shortcomings of male cosmetics packaging design. And we can conduct research from the perspectives of aesthetic, consumer psychology, consumer habits and other needs of male so as to combine the elements of packaging design to find methods to meet the various design requirements of the male. Meanwhile, we can try to build a successful male cosmetics brand through the brand cultural value of packaging design. I hope through the theoretical and applied analysis of Chinese male cosmetics packaging design in this article.This paper has following innovations: first, through various studies, to deeply explore the visual communication in the form of masculine and provide a new direction for the development of male cosmetics packaging design; secondly, rather than completely negating the original male cosmetics packaging design, we can use the "re-design" approach to combine the concept with traditional design under the premise of promoting green packaging and following the principles of sustainable development so as to improve the male cosmetics packaging design;for male cosmetics to provide more value-added products, cosmetics production enterprise brand value; finally, for the problems in the domestic market, such as being lack of rich male cosmetics brands and distinct packaging design features, we should add new design and use serialization packaging strategy, graded packaging strategy, and other personalized packaging design strategy with product positioning to get a brand-new male cosmetics packaging. Through this we can make it add value to the product and enterprise instead of merely being used as packaging. In summary, this design should not be ignored due to its real life practical significance. And the same time, it has been critical to supplement the theory and enrich the system of the domestic male cosmetics market, which has been significant for the research study of the domestic male cosmetics packaging design.
