The ecological system is the environment and material basis for the survival and development of human beings where urbanization is inexorable trend of human society development. The continuous development and progress of urban have great influence on the ecological environment, such as deterioration of natural environment, damaging the ecosystem, the increasing consumption of resources and energy, the increasing pollutants and waste. These all result in a series of environmental problems and degenerating the function of ecosystem service. Conversely, those problems restrict the urbanization and have a negative influence on the progress and development of urban.This study based on a combination of geographical information and remote sensing technology and integrated a variety of spatial data and attribute data, calculating the value of NPP, carbon fixation and oxygen release, water conservation, soil retention and food production in Guanzhong-Tianshui Economic Zone. We also compared the calculation result of the DMSP/OLS night light remote sensing data and social economic statistical data, using the result above to analyz urbanization development level in Guanzhong-Tianshui Economic Zone. On this basis,we calculated the coupling relationship between urbanization development level and ecosystem service function. The main results of the study were as follows:(1) The land use type changed similarly between 2000-2005 and 2005-2010, which grassland increased first and then decrease, forest land and urban land increased, arable land and unused land decrease, water land did not change basically. The distribution of farmland tapes is similar to the distribution of precipitation and topography, dry land is mainly distributed in the northwest area where has less precipitation and the terrain is relatively rugged, while the irrigated land is mainly distributed in the central and southeastern regions where has the Suitable climate and flat terrain.The value of different ecosystem services in Guanzhong-Tianshui economic region change not the same. The value of Net Primary Productivity, carbon fixation and oxygen release and food production showed a trend of increase. However, the value of water conservation decreased first, then increased and the value of soil retention increased first, then decreased.(2) From 2000 to 2010, the biggest DN value of night light in different cities of Guanzhong-Tianshui economic Zone has a big raise. In all the ranges of gray lever night light date in Guanzhong-Tianshui Economic Zone,0-10 gray light pixel form the majority of all, but the proportion reduced, other gray gradually is expanding, gray lever 11-20 has a fastest growth. The correlation coefficient between the comprehensive index of the city lights and the index of urbanization calculated by different threshold and weight combination mode shows that,when the threshold is 6, weight combination mode between NLII and NLCI is NLCI=0.7*NLII+0.3*NLAI, the correlation coefficient is the biggest, and fit to the study area.From 2000 to 2005、2010, night lights comprehensive index is increasing in all the counties, the rate of increase from 2000 to 2005 is greater than from 2005 to 2010. Urbanization lever has a fast and comprehensive promotion in the ten years in Guanzhong-Tianshui Economic Zone.(3) Coupling degree and coupling coordination degree between urbanization and the value of ecosystem services showing an increasing trend.The coupling coordination degree between urbanization and npp、soil and water conservation is relatively small, the coupling coordination degree between urbanization and carbon fixation and oxygen release、water conservation food production is relatively large. According to the calculated of the model, which calculates the influence of ecosystem services value to urbanization, the increases of NPP value, water interception value and soil conservation value can improve the level of urbanization, while the increases of carbon sequestration value and grain production value can hinder the urban development. The values of the coefficient show that the affects of NPP value, grain production value and water interception value to urbanization are greater than the affects of carbon sequestration value and soil conservation value to urbanization. According to the calculated of the modle, which calculates the influence of urbanization to ecosystem services value, the affects of urbanization to NPP value, grain production value, water interception value and soil conservation value are greater than the affects to carbon sequestration value.The main characteristics of this research:(1) The main scale of this research is county.(2) Combine DMSP/OLS night lights remote sensing data and statistical data to analyze the level of urbanization in Guanzhong-Tianshui Economic Zone.(3) Quantitatively analyze the interactions between the ecosystem service functions and urbanization based on the calculations of their coupling coordination degree.
