Antimony doped tin oxide(ATO) is a well-known optically transparent, infrared light insulating, good stability and relatively low cost, so it has great potential applications in the energy saving glass or architecture glass curtain. The inherent carrier of ATO powder is the reason of the above properties and correlates to the conductivity. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate on the synthesis of ATO with high conductivity.In this study, ATO powder was prepared by co-precipitation method and the robust parameter design(RPD) method was also used to determine optimal preparation conditions of high conductivity ATO particles. The effects of the synthetic condition on structure, optical and electrical properties of ATO powder were discussed. The 3-methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysiliane(MPS) was used to modify the ATO nanoparticle and the modified-ATO powder was mixed with the ploymethyl methacrylate(PMMA) to prepare ATO/PMMA coating. The effects of the ATO addition on optical, heat insulting and mechanical properties of film were investigated, too.1. Study on ATO nanoparticles preparation and properties(1) ATO powder was prepared by co-precipitation method, the effects of Sb doped concentration, calcination temperature and time and p H value on the property were discussed. The results showed that conductivity of ATO upgraded firstly and then degraded as the Sb doped concentration, calcination temperature and time increasing. The conductivity of ATO decreaseed with the increase of p H value. The apparent activation energy of ATO crystal growth was 2.2922 KJ·mol-1 below 600 ℃ and 3.9138 KJ·mol-1 above 600 ℃, respectively. It was harmful to prolong the calcination time for narrow particle size distribution preparation.(2) RPD method was used to determine the preparation conditions of ATO powder with high conductivity. The results showed that the conductivity of ATO powder was influenced significantly by calcination temperature, followed by calcination time and Sb doped content. And the contribution of parameters was 65.343 %, 18.223 % and 10.201 %, respectively. The optimal parameters were Sb doped content of n(Sb) : n(Sn) =11%, calcination temperature and time of 800 ℃ and 0.75 h, respectively. Under such conditions the prepared ATO sample’s conductivity was 7.6511 S·cm-1, which was approximately in agreement with the predicted value. And the ATO prepared under the optimum conditions had higher conductivity, smaller particle size and more uniform size distribution.2. Study on ATO/PMMA film and its properties(1) The ATO was modified with MPS and the effects of the MPS concentration on the ATO were investigated. The results showed that when the content of MPS was 15 %, MPS-modified ATO had better dispersivity in PMMA and higher visible light transmittance.(2) The ATO/PMMA were prepared by a solution-mixing method, the effect of ATO concentration on film properties was investigated. The results showed that the ATO concentration increasing led to lower visible and near infrared transmittance, better heat insultion, higher hardness and lower adhesion of film.
