The Application Of Abstract Art Design In Brocade Cheongsam Pattern

The theme of this design is "The Application of Abstract Art Pattern in Brocade Cheongsam Design", which comes from 2011R50004 project of key technology innovation team in Zhejiang. It will research in the aspect of understanding and analyzing the eastern and western abstract art patterns which includes eight themes and fifteen patterns. At early stage, it will reorganize, arrange or redraw the collected elements of abstract art; design creative patterns purposely and specifically combine with brocade cheongsam version, fabric, technical process and current fashion trends by thinking and analysis. To reflect the unique artistic effects belonging brocade cheongsam from the three aspects of pattern, form and color. To design the patterns which could fit the female physique shape and modern aesthetic, reflect different aesthetic qualities of women.Brocade dress patterns available in the market mostly are in the traditional pattern and seriously homogeneous. Nowadays, the influx of various thoughts and penetration gradually affect our values and aesthetic orientation, the demand for the growing number of art and fashion, brocade dress patterns need a new explanation and form manifestation. Existing abstract art design patterns used in clothing visual effect are very good, but the expression is limited to printing mainly, the application of abstract art patterns on brocade cheongsam can greatly enrich the presentation, as well as bring a broader design space of cheongsam.Abstract art is a spiritual creative practice aimed at emerging the emotional content of the soul and unconsciously manipulation, it avoids formal, it is a pure, unique art form, conveys to the public the process of exploring the inner world of a particular emotional feelings of artists, to let the audience have a deeper sense communication and resonance. Because of this inner spiritual implication is very subtle, very hazy, which can not be simply materialized, so it needs to accurately understanding the meaning of art works in the creatively design process of converting brocade patterns, and reflect the implicit emotion through color, texture, shape and other formal beauty laws in the brocade dress.Abstract art patterns used in the brocade fabric, we must first consider the characteristics of its’ fabric and weaving principle, brocade fabrics will show a different color and gloss at different angles and lighting, which will help abstract art patterns on brocade dress exhibits different artistic effect from other fabrics and crafts. In the early days of pattern designing, it is difficult to overcome how to combine abstract art with traditional cheongsam dress, and to find the relationship between them, so that the traditional preference can accept. During the design process, breaking the traditional patterns in a fixed place on the dress, by understanding the characteristics and patterns of abstract art forms and create new decorative effect to integrate them into one naturally and maximize the combination of abstract art and brocade patterns fabrics.
