At present, ring spinning technology is one of the most widely used spinning technology. In order to improve the spinning efficiency and increase market competitiveness, high-speed spinning production is an inevitable trend of the development of ring spinning technology. But high speed spinning puts more demands on rings and travellers. With the development of spinning speed, the abrasion of ring and traveller is getting worse. And because of the damaged ring and traveller, yarn quality and output will decrease. Through the practice, it is found that the geometry of ring and traveller has a significant effect on their abrasion. For this, the analysis of ring and traveller system is carried out with the help of dynamic analysis theory. On this basis, this paper provides references for the design and selection of ring and traveller, which further promotes the development of high speed spinning.In the spinning process, traveller slides on the ring continuously. And in this process, the movement pattern of the traveller includes force analysis and dip angle analysis. Firstly, without considering the air resistance and the gravity of the traveller, main parameters were extracted. And on this basis, a mathematical model of traveller’s movement is established. Secondly, entity models of ring and three kinds of travellers were built in SolidWorks. The three kinds of travellers are 6802 traveller with rectangular cross section, BU traveller with bow-shaped cross section,772 traveller with corrugated cross section. After that, force analyses of travellers were conducted in Adams. Thirdly, through using experimental fitting method, dip angle’s changing curves were built in MATLAB. At last, on the basis of traveller’s abrasion experiment and spinning experiment, the relationship between traveller’s movement pattern with traveller’s service life and yarn quality was discussed.According to the above experimental analysis, the conclusions are as follows:(1) under the same spinning condition,6802 traveller has poor stability during the spinning process. Because the 6802 traveller’s rectangular cross section can’t be good fit to the fore set angle, traveller was badly worn. Besides, the unsteadiness of integrated inclination angle resulted in more yarn hairiness and yarn evenness deterioration. (2) The contact force between BU traveller and ring is less than the other two kinds of travellers’. Therefore, the abrasive resistance of BU traveller is good. The integrated inclination angle of BU traveller is small, which can decrease the CV value of the yarn. And the stability of BU traveller is worse than 772 traveller, which resulted in more yarn harness. (3) The contact force between 772 traveller and ring is the biggest one in the three kinds of travellers’. But the fore set angle is less than the other two kinds of travellers’. Consequently, the abrasive resistance of 772 traveller is better than 6802 traveller’s. Meanwhile, the stability of 772 traveller is the best one, so the yarn which was spinning by 772 traveller has little harness. However, the integrated inclination angle of 772 traveller is the biggest one, which leads to yarn evenness deterioration.
