As the fossil resin after a long period of evolution, Burma amber has different mysterious fluorescent colors. In order to the further research of amber, such as gemological properties, optical properties, characteristics of optical spectroscopy, which provide theoretical basis for the identification of amber. In this paper, the author select different colors and types of Burma amber as the mainly research object, the Baltic amber, rosin and copal resin as comparative objects.According to a series of experiment, including differential thermal analysis, element analysis, IR spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, Ultraviolet Visible spectrum analysis etc, the author explore the corresponding relation of physical properties of amber, such as density, color, hardness, fluorescent etc, and the change of internal structure in the process of formation.Based on the test of physical parameters such as density, hardness, solubility etc, the results indicate the gemological properties of Burma amber; the solubility is short for S,and there is the relationship of Srosin>Scopal resin>SBurma amber.According to TMAX-SX<TMAX-KB<TMAX-Burma amber,The longer test samples form, the higher the biggest pyrolysis temperature(short for TMAX)is.There is an discovery accidentally that amber is divided into three period of weightlessness. All the reaction of combustion is completed before 600 ℃.The depth of the amber color is associated with the element content(the main elements and trace elements).the oxygen percentage, which is short for W,existing the following relations:W金珀(3.95%-4.22%)<W深黄色(4.39%)<W棕珀(6.14%-12.28%)<W皮(22.62%),However,The relations of percentage of carbon is W金珀(83.58%-83.14%)>W深黄色(82.93%)>W棕珀(81.69%-76.50%)>W皮(63.96%),The experiment data turns out that the depth of Burma amber color is positively relative to oxygen percentage, and negative correlation to the percentage of carbon, that is to say,the higher the degree of oxidation is,the more depth color of Burma amber is,while the lower carbon percentage, the deeper the amber color is.Burma amber contains rich trace elements, such as Si, Al, Fe, Ca, Na, K, Mg,S etc,the amber color is related to the content of trace elements, such as Iron and Sulfur. In view of WGold amber(0.16%)<Wblood amber(0.40%)<Wroot amber(0.48%),the more the Sulfur content is,the deeper the amber color is.At the same time, the presence of trace elements affect the fluorescence intensity of amber.Infrared spectra absorption band of oxidation products, which is in the range of 1680cm-1-1750cm-1 also enhanced gradually in the formation process of Burma amber, the results turn out that there occurred crosslinking polymerization of small rosin molecules and slow oxidation reaction in the long geological process, formed stable organic macromolecule polymer blend in the end.what’s more, all of the Burma amber has characteristic absorption which is similar to the "mountain" shape within the range 1000cm-1-1300cm-1, obviously, Identification of origin of different producing area of natural amber is mostly judged by the fingerprint differences of IR absorption peak.785nm stimulated Raman spectral can effectively avoid the disturbance of amber fluorescence, the molecular of Burma amber exist hexatomic ring according to the Raman spectrum and infrared spectrum absorption peak.Uv-vis spectra is corresponding to fluorescence intensity, there are different ultraviolet absorptions above 210 nm of Burma amber, while the ultraviolet absorption of golden amber and root amber is more apparent than reddish-brown amber, the absorption of 250 nm is caused by carbonyl, then Burma amber exist unsaturated conjugate structure indicated by Ultraviolet Visible absorption spectrum, which own π→π* transition energy level. At the end of article, Based on all the spectroscopy analysis, there are the local molecular structure of Burma amber, such as conjugated structure, unsaturated carbon carbon double bond and carbonyl group.
