The reliability of the new type machining center which was independently reached is the important factor that affects its performance. It is an important method for improving performance to analyze the reliability of the machining center. the fault analysis、query and prediction of the machining center are main content. In order to keep safe and steady operation in the running process of the machining center, and to avoid the major accidents occurrence and improve the productivity and the machine utilization, according to actual condition, we will analyze the fault of the machine center, create a fault case database as well as the system which is used for inquiring fault and predicting maintain time, which can strengthen management of the machining center and improve its performance.The realization of communication is the base of the remote fault query and prediction, we can use the RS232c interface and Ethernet to achieve the communication between the CNC system and communication equipment, using the Internet to get the communication between the CNC system and computer and finish data transmission, finally, obtain the required data. Alert data is the basis of the fault case database and the prediction system. Collecting the alert data of the CNC system, we can use var selector to select the desired parameter and establish the source file, and use Step7 programming to read the data of the source file. In order to design the fault query system of the machining center, the first step is getting the failure sort and analyzing the fault simulation analysis、clearing the alarm manual and the custom alarm parameters of machine tool plant, establishing the typical failure case database, then design the system combined with programming software. Finally, research the fault maintenance time prediction method, including dealing with the alarm data, establishing the prediction model of fault maintenance time by BP neural network and finishing the fault maintenance time prediction system combined with programming software.The designed system must have some certain advantages, which include the accuracy of the collecting data and alarming data、alarm function、the security and enough good as well as economy stability, and so on, the fault query system can quickly and accurately make a query and warm according to the alarm information; the fault maintenance time prediction system can quickly predict time of handing fault. The system can long-time run and will not cause any adverse effects on the machining center work. This system can improve the reliability of the machining center.By debugging and testing, the machining center system which is about fault case database, the fault query and prediction system can basically reached the design require, and also accurately query and predict.
