In the coal port, we generally use the belt conveyor to transport coal, and use belt scale to weigh coal. The belt conveyor and belt scales constitute the weighing transport system in the coal port, sometimes referred to as the belt meter system. Due to the harsh environment of coal port, the belt system is often affected by various factors. In this paper, the usual faults of belt scales and the conveyer are analyzed, and a set of practical optimization programs is designed.The common problem of the belt system is the measurement error, the deviation of the belt, etc. In this paper, the photoelectric sensors are used to correct the measurement error; The hydraulic self-correcting roller is used to solve the belt deviation problem;Because the weighing sensor is not accurate, this paper uses RBF neural network to compensate for the error. Through the data simulation, the compensation effect of the RBF neural network is demonstrated. Using the neural network, the data can be better used to improve the accuracy and stability of the weighing sensor.The SIEMENS S7-300 PLC is selected as a control unit to achieve the automatic control system. The AC conversion and the speed governing system are used to control the belt speed. We design a new control system through optimization design of the faults from two aspects: hardware and software. Our new belt meter systems have longer continuous operation time, save energy, and improve the production efficiency.
