According to latest long-term railway network plan of China, the scale of China’s railway network will increase to 120,000 km by 2020.The speed railway network will increase to more than 50,000 kilometers, more than twenty thousand EMUs will be needed. Bogie is one of the core compoments of EMU which is directly related to safety、reliability and comfort of the high-speed EMU.During the 20-25 years of EMU’s life, a large number of maintenance personnel will participate in the operations of the high-speed EMU. Therefore, the development of multimedia information system based on multimedia 、virtual reality and computer simulation technology making it possible to understand the structure、assembly process、maintenance process requirements and maintenance requirements of the product. This will reduce the cost of the training for maintenance personnel, greatly improve the economic efficiency and competitiveness of enterprises.In this thesis, primarily the research background of the project was described, the present situation of the multimedia information system was analyzed, the system requirements of CRH5 EMU bogie were proposed.Product structure characteristics expression requirements、assembly characteristics expression requirements 、 maintenance information inquiry requirements and staff training requirements contribute to system functional requirements. The development route of the system based on the above system requirements was determined. In the chapter system design, the module of general overview of the system、the module of structural features assembly demonstration、the module of all levels of maintenance information module were designed.In the chapter of system implementation,system architecture implementation、self-adaptive function、the capability of three-dimensional solid browsing、the capability of virtual assembly presentation were described. In the end, the system instances were demonstrated.The system was designed by Authorware7.0 authoring software 、 3Dsmax virtual assembly software, Cult3 D virtual reality software and other tools. Users can easily and quickly find the content they want to know.The system provides a friendly interface for designers, the system helps them save a lot of time to find information of the model and improve their work efficiency and reduce enterprise’s operating costs.
