This paper was about the study of the chemical components and their bioactives in the genus of Euphorbia tirucalli L.This research paper can be divided into two parts. The first part was a review of the research progress on chemical constituents and their bioactives from the plants in the genus of Euphorbia L.. There are a chunk of research papers about the bioactive constituents from Euphorbia L. in recent decades. Tannins, alkaloids, terpenoids, steroid, carbohydrate, flavonoids and phenols have been reported from the Euphorbia L..The second part was about the chemical components and antioxidant activity of chemical compounds isolated from Euphorbia tirucalli L.1、Thirteen compounds were isolated from the stem and bark of Euphorbia tirucalli L. by various chromatographic column. Nine compounds structures were elucidated by modern spectroscopy technology(UV,IR,MS,1DNMR,2DNMR) and analyzed physicoc-hemical property of these compounds. Lupeol (Ⅰ), Lanosterol (Ⅱ), Euphol (Ⅲ), Friedelan-3-one (Ⅳ), Taraxerone (Ⅴ), (β-Sitosterol (Ⅵ), Taraxerol (Ⅶ),β-Amyrin (Ⅷ), (+)-Pinoresinol (Ⅸ).Compounds (+)-Pinoresinol (Ⅸ) were first reported to be isolated from this plant.2、This was the first report of isolated chemical constituents from the root bark ethanol crude extraction and the liposoluble components from stem bark by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry in Euphorbia tirucalli L.. The constituents were identified by their mass spectra. The relative percentages of the constituents were calculated using the GC peak areas. The root bark ethanol crude extraction:Thirty compounds were identified, amounting to 91.52% of total amount,The main chemical components of the liposoluble components were Lanosterol (65.59%)、Taraxasterol (3.35%、(3a)-9,19-Cyclolanostan-3-ol,24-methylene-(2.76%) and (3β)-Lup-20(29)-en-3-ol,acetate (2.18%);The liposoluble components from stem bark:Thirty-two compounds were identified, amounting to 96.01% of total amount, The main chemical components of the liposoluble components were Lanosterol(29.86%)、13.27-Cycloursan-3-one(8.45%)、 Lup-20(29)-en-3-one (6.87%)、Tetratetracontane (5.85%)、9,19-Cyclolanost-7-en-3-o1 (5.31%)、Triacontane (5.74%)、Hexacosane (5.34%)、Hentriacontane(4.58%)、Lupeol(4.08%).3、Antioxidant activity of chemicals isolated from Euphorbia tirucalli L. were determined by DPPH method.Bioassay results showed the bark antioxidant activity is better than those isolated from xylem. Free radical clear ability was as follows: EtOAc.Ext of stem bark>EtOH crude.Ext of stem bark>EtOH crude.Ext of root bark>liposoluble components of stem bark>liposoluble components of root bark>EtOH crude.Ext of root xylem>Pet.Ext of stem bark>EtOH crude.Ext of stem xylem>aqueous extraction of stem bark.And the compoundsⅠ(Lupeol).Ⅱ(Lanosterol),Ⅲ(Euphol) showed antioxidant activity too.
