Objective To investigate the expression of miR-29b in the Epithelian Ovarian Cancer and its clinical significance.Method The expression of miR-29b and protein levels of VEGF in90ovarian specim-ens (including15normal,15benign and60malignant) were detected with Real-time PCR and immunohistochemistry. Correlations of miR-29b expression to the pathoclinical characteristics and prognosis of epithelial ovarian cancer were analyzed. The relevance between the expressions of miR-29b and VEGF protein was analyzed.Result1、The expression of miR-29b was significantly down-regulated in patients with ovarian carcinoma compared to those in ovarian benign tumors and normal controls.2、miR-29b expression in clinical stage Ⅲ~Ⅳ and in the group with lymph node metastasis were significantly down-regulated compared to those in stage Ⅰ~Ⅱ and in the group without lymph node metastasis respectively; hydroperitoneum was associate-d with low expression of miR-29b (p<0.05)3、Kaplan-Meier method showed that patients survived shorter when ovarian cancer tissues showed lower expression of miR-29(p<0.05); COX proportional risk model analysis indicated that lower expression of miR-29b was independently related to survival time, and the risk of mortality with lower expression of miR-29was3.996times as large as that with high.4、Expression of miR-29b was negatively correlated with protein levels of VEGF in ovarian cancer tissues (r=-0.477,p<0.01). The expression of miR-29b was lower in group of high VEGF protein expression than in group of low (it was0.4869and0.5723respectively, p=0.008).Conclusion MicroRNA-29b might have participated the origination and progression of epithelial ovarian cancer as a tumor-suppressor, it may represent potential indicator in the auxiliary diagnosis and prognosis of epithelial ovarian cancer, VEGF protein is possibly one of the targets protein of miR-29b.
