| BackgroundBreast cancer is a major cause of the death of women, the main cause of death isrecurrence and metastasis, and its development is a complex variety of biologicalindicators participatory process. It believes that the invasion of breast cancer relates to itsmicroenvironment, while chemokines are key components of the microenvireonment, andsome chemokines are conformed as the biomarkers of some kinds of tumors.CCL18(chemokine CC-motif ligand18), belongs to the CC subgroup chemokinesand the mainly source of CCL18are DC and macrophages, It plays an important role ininflammation, angiogenesis, hematopoiesis, and the induction of immune tolerance.CCL18was conformed as a biomarker of some kinds of tumors, relating to invasionand metastasis, such as gastric cancer and ovarial cancer. It also can predict the prognosisand direct treatment. While there are no papers focus on the relationship of CCL18andbreast cancer, and the relationship between CCL18and the biological and pathologiccharacteristics of breast cancer.PurposeTo identify if CCL18is a biomarker of breast cancer, and the relationship between theexpression level of CCL18and the pathologic characteristics of breast cancer, and therelationship between the expression level of CCL18and the Ki67.Materials and methodsSample files140patients were considered. Including20healthy persons,40benigndiseases of breast (containing16fibroadenoma of breast patients,7intraductal papillomapatients,17fibrocystic mastopathy patients),80breast cancer patients (containing8 carcinoma in situ patients,72Infiltrating duct carcinoma patients), and20healthy tissuesamples aside the benign lesions from the patients with benign breast disease as controlgroup. All of the cases collected were female.Empirical method: immunohistochemical method.Statistical analysis statistical ana ysis was carried out using SPSS16.0P value <0.05is considered statistically significant.Results1ã€There were no CCL18expressed in the control group and the benign breastdiseases group, but there were57cases were positive in the breast cancer group, positiverate was71.3%. The expression level of CCL18in the breast cancer group was higher thanthe other tow groups (P<0.001).2ã€The expression level of CCL18in breast carcinoma is closely related to the tumorsize (p=0.035) and histological grading (p=0.048), staging (p<0.001), andlymphovascular invasion (p<0.001), but has nothing to do with the age of patient, ERexpression, Ki67expression (P>0.05).Conclusions1ã€CCL18was over-expressed in breast carcinoma, and expressed undetectable in benignbreast diseases and normal breast tissues; It maybe is a biomarker of breast cancer andhelpful to the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of breast carcinoma.2ã€The high expression of CCL18in breast cancer was correlated with the neoplasmtissue diameter, histological grading, lymph node metastasis, staging, and was notcorrelate with the Ki67exprssion. It suggests CCL18expression have relationshipwith tumor invasion and metastasis, but was unrelated to the proliferation of cancercells. |
