The Study Of The Comparison Of The Curative Effect Of Electro-acupuncture Therapy And TENS Therapy For Knee Osteoarthritis Treatment

Objective:Knee osteoarthritis (KOA) is a common disease and can be found in most of the elder people. This study want to compare the curative effect of TENS therapy and Electro-acupuncture therapy for treating Knee Osteoarthritis. In order to grasp more effective, simple and easy method for use in clinical, this paper mainly discusses about either invasive or noninvasive treatment will get better result on the same basis of the low frequency electrotherapy.Method:60Patients with KOA who met the study criteria were chosen and randomized into two groups TENS group (TENS combined with cupping) and Electro-acupuncture group (Electro-acupuncture combined with cupping). Each group contains30patients. Points selected:xiyan (EX-LE5), weizhong (BL-40), Yanglingquan(GB-34), Yinlingquan(SP-9), Xuehai(SP-10), Liangqiu(ST-34), and ashi point. Both groups take40-50mins/time,3times/week,1week/course. It contains4courses in the whole clinical experiment.The effect of therapy was assessed by the WOMAC osteoarthritis index which was performed before treatment, after the second course of treatment, and after the fourth period of treatment. All data collected were analyzed with SPSS19.0software.Conclusion:These two therapies can both improve the three indexes and total score of WOMAC, therefore, they are both effective to KOA. The therapy of Electro-acupuncture is especially better than the TENS group on the subjects of pain,but they are simi]ar in terms of their rigidity index,daily exerci se difficulty. In a word,for KOA, both curative effect of the therapies of Electro-acupuncture and TENS are positive,and thcy are worth to be promotcd.
