Objective:This article reviews the recent clinical research of Chinese, medicine tonifying kidney and activating blood circulation. Based on etiology and pathology of primary osteoporosis, it focus on etiology and pathogenesis of primary osteoporosis in Chinese medicine theory, the relationship between primary osteoporosis with kidney deficiency, the mechanism and clinical applications of tonifying kidney and activating blood circulation, with the evaluation of Chinese medicine tonifying kidney and activating blood circulation in preventing and treating osteoporotic vertebral fracture by finite element analysis. Methods:The finite element model of30cases with12nd thoracic vertebral acute osteoporotic compressive fracture is randomly divided into2groups, with15cases in each group. Experimental group:treated with absolute bed resting and functional exercise, plus taking formula tonifying kidney and activating blood circulation (Medlar lOg, and salt Eucommia Ulmoides10g, and wine Cornus10g, and Radix Rehmanniae Preparata10g, and Alisma10g, Poria10g, Yam10g, and Peony Skin10g, and Radix Notoginseng powder10g, and Licorice5g, made prescription formula), decocted in water for oral dose. Dosage:one dose for two times daily after meal. Control group:treated with absolute bed resting and functional exercise, plus taking diclofenac sodium sustained-release tablets of75mg, one pill a day after meals.14days after treatment, all patients have received spiral CT scan (Picker PQ-6000A, Siemens, Germany) from the upper margin of11th thoracic vertebral body to lower margin of the1st lumbar vertebral body for osteoporotic vertebral fracture’s finite element model. The data of two groups of load changes was recorded and analysed. Results:For the he maximum load capacity of experimental group and control group before and after the treatment, the maximum load capacity of experimental group is higher than the control group after treatment.(P<0.05)Conclusion:Chinese medicine tonifying kidney and activating blood circulation increased load capacity of osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures. It shows advantage in prevention and treatment of osteoporotic vertebral fracture.
