Objectives:The pathogenesis of fundic gland polyps still keeps unknown, this study wasconducted to investigate the correlation of fundic gland polyps with Helicobacterpylori (Hp) infection, treatment of proton pump inhibitors, H2receptor blockers andgastric mucosa protectants. To further determine the factors influencing on theoccurrence and development of the fundic gland polyps by evaluation of theexpression of Ki-67antigen in fundic gland polyp biopsies. Methods:The inclusion criteria: polyp groups: patients undergoing gastroscopy with foundgastric polys were selected from endoscopy center of the Second Affiliated Hospitalof Zhengzhou University between January2013and November2013, their history ofmedicine, poly biopsies, and Hp detection were taken and recorded at the same time.Control group: patients from endoscopy center of the Second Affiliated Hospital ofZhengzhou University between January2013and November2013, who receivedgastroscopy and were diagnosed as non-atrophic gastritis. Drug taking history: Inpolyps group and non-atrophic gastritis group, the duration of medication forproton-pump inhibitor, H2RA, gastric mucosa protectant routine dose for more than one year or intermittent mediciation accumulated more than six months.70caseswere confirmed as fundic gland polyps by pathology,50cases were confirmed aschronic non-atrophic gastritis by pathology.Results:1、The rates of Hp infection in patients of fundic gland polyps group and thecontrol group were28cases (40%),26cases (52%) respectively, and there was nostatistically significant difference (P>0.05).2、Proton pump inhibitors consumption in fundic gland polyps group and thecontrol group were11cases (16%),6cases (12%) respectively, and there was nostatistically significant difference(P>0.05).3、H2receptor blockers treatment in fundic gland polyps group and the controlgroup were7cases (10%),5cases (10%) respectively, and there was no statisticallysignificant difference(P>0.05).4、Gastric mucosa protectant taken in fundic gland polyps group and the controlgroup were6cases (9%),5cases (10%) respectively, and there was no statisticallysignificant difference (P>0.05).5、Expression of Ki-67antigen in non-atrophic gastritis group, fundic glandpolyps group and gastritis adenocarcinoma group were5cases (25%),14cases(20%),16cases (80%) respectively, there was no statistically significant difference(P>0.05) between fundic gland polyps group and non-atrophic gastritis group; therewas statistically significant difference of expression rate (P<0.05) in the fundic glandpolyps group and the gastric adenocarcinoma.Conclusions:1、Hp infection, long-term use of PPI,H2receptor blockers and gastric mucosaprotectant have little influence on the occurrence of fundic gland polyps.2、There is no significant difference for the expression of Ki-67antigen betweennon-atrophic gastritis group and the fundic gland polyps group, there are obviousdifference between the expression of Ki-67antigen in the gastric adenocarcinomagroup and the fundic gland polys group, showing that fundic gland polyps are benignlesions and have no tendency to malignization.
