ObjectiveBased on the theory of Chinese Medicine, the study aims to observe the clinical effect of Tiaorentongdu Acupuncture and to discuss the mechanism of Tiaorentongdu Acupuncture by EEG in young patients with stroke.MethodsWe had selected60suitable young patients with stroke. They were randomly divided into two groups:Tiaorentongdu Acupuncture as the experimental group (30cases), Normal Acupuncture as the control group (30cases). All the subjects in our study were inpatients who had been hospitalized. They received2weeks treatment of acupuncture. It’s3courses in common. The outcome was measured by the modified Bathel Index (MBI), the Fugl-Meyer scale (F-M) and the amplitude and rhythms of EEG. At last, the data was analyzed by SPSS19.0statistic software.Results1. After statistics processing, it had no significant difference between the two groups at baseline (P>0.05).2. Clinical Effects:The effective rate of the experimental group was89.29%, and the control group was85.71%. Compared by the Ridit-test, it had significant difference on clinical effect between the two groups. It showed that the clinical effect of experimental group was superior to the control group.3. The modified Barthel index (MBI) assessment before and after treatment: The average MBI score of the experimental group was40.04±11.05at the baseline, and65.04±20.90after treatment, compared to which of the control group was40.50±9.31at the baseline,54.61±17.04after treatment. The MBI score of the two groups both increase (P<0.01), but the former was higher than the latter (P<0.05). 4. The Fugl-Meyer (F-M) Motor and Sensory Assessments before and after treatment:(1) The F-M motor assessment (total motor):Compared with before treatment, F-M(total motor) of the two groups both increased (P<0.01).The experimental group was44.50±14.15at the baseline,66.21±11.22after treatment, compared to which of the control group was43.18±12.12,56.04±13.42. The former was higher than the latter after treatment(P<0.05).(2) The F-M sensory assessment (total sensory):Compared with before treatment, F-M(total motor) of the two groups both increased (P<0.05). F-M (total sensory) of the experimental group was14.95±5.35at the baseline,17.63±4.63after treatment, compared to which of the control group was15.11±5.20,17.89±4.43. But it had no significant difference between the two groups after treatment.5. The change of EEG before and after treatment:(1) a wave amplitude and rhythms:Compared with before treatment, a wave amplitude and rhythms both increased in the two groups (P<0.01). a wave amplitude was increased12.61±11.67(%) in experimental group and10.28±10.42(%) in control group, while a wave rhythms was increased29.51±20.13(%) and24.39±16.87(%). However, it had no significant difference between the two groups (P>0.05).(2) θ wave amplitude and rhythms:Compared with before treatment,θ wave amplitude and rhythms both decreased in the two groups(P<0.01).θ wave amplitude was changed-20.91±22.61(%) in experimental group and-21.5±21.55(%) in control group while θ wave rhythms was changed-13.4±21.03(%) and-17.15±24.4(%). However, it had no significant difference between the two groups (P>0.05).(3)8wave amplitude and rhythms::Compared with before treatment,θ wave amplitude and rhythms both decreased in the two groups(P<0.01).δ wave amplitude was changed-26.58±22.97(%) in experimental group and-20.97±18.67(%) in control group while δ wave rhythms was changed-17.14±20.28(%) and-9.84±16.55(%). However, it had no significant difference between the two groups(P>0.05).(4) β wave amplitude and rhythms:Compared with before treatment, βwave amplitude was increased6.64±19.64(%) in experimental group and9.26±23.87(%) in control group, while a wave rhythms was increased8.32±18.22(%) and11.67±15.55(%). and24.39±16.87(%). But it had no significant difference not only before and after treatment (P>0.05) but also between the two groups after treatment (P>0.05).Conclus i on1. The clinical effect (ADL and limbs function) is improved both by the Tiaorentongdu Acupuncture and the Normal Acupuncture treatment. But compared with the Normal Acupuncture, Tiaorentongdu Acupuncture is superior on clinical effect. It shows that Tiaorentongdu Acupuncture treatment is the effective and feasible treatment to young patients with stroke.2. The a wave amplitude and rhythms on EEG are both increased by Tiaorentongdu Acupuncture and the Normal Acupuncture treatment. At the same time, the θ、 δ wave amplitude and rhythms are decreased. It shows that the activity of brain is improved by acupuncture treatment. But it has no significant difference between the two acupuncture therapies on the effect of EEG.
