Objective: To compare the variation tendency of the indications andcomplications of pediatric tracheotomy in last20years and the reason whythe variation appears. Methods: Retrospective study the clinical data of128cases admittedto our hospital in1993-2013,which were divided into Group X:1993-200261cases of clinical data and Group Y:2003-201367cases of clinicaldata to make a comparative analysis.Result: X group61cases,4cases of primary disease deaths (6.5%),3cases of abandon treated and discharged,1case with a pipe anddischarged,42patients were cured and discharged extubation, thecomplication rate of9.8%; Y group67cases,1of primary disease deaths(1.5%),6cases with a pipe and discharged,43patients were cured anddischarged extubation, the complication rate of5.8%.Conclusion: As medical technology and hardware continues to evolve, the operation gradually has a wider range of surgical indications and lowercomplications rate than before. But the pediatric tracheotomy still has its particularity that it has more complications than the adults’, so it’ssignificant to control the surgery indications strictly and standardize theoperation in order to avoid complications.
