Clinical Research On The Treatment Of Post-stroke Depression With Chaihu Jia Longgu Muli Decoction

Post-stroke Depression(PSD)is among the most common emotional disorders afflicting stroke sufferers.Approximately one third of stoke survivors experience an early or later onset of depression.PSD impedes the rehabilitation and recovery process jeopardizes quality of life and increases mortality.Although post-stroke affective disorders have long been recognized,depression has not been fully appreciated by healthcare specialists dealing with stroke survivors,who have tended to concentrate mainly on the physical sequelae of stroke.Objective:In this thesis we studied the etiological factors and the pathogenesis of the post-stroke depression(PSD),observed the therapeutic effect of psychotherapy and Chaihu jia Longgu Muli decoction,as well as their validity and security.Methods:60cases of PSD were randomly divided into psychotherapy group,Chinese medicine treatment group and fluoxetine treatment control group. Provided the basic therapy of cerebrovascular disease equally to all the patients.On this basis,the psychotherapy group were given mental intervention;the Chinese medicine treatment group were treated by Chaihu jia Longgu Muli decoction; the control group were treated with fluoxetine(20mg once daily).Before the treatment and after60days of the treatment,using HAMD scale to assess the depression level of patients;measuring patients’neurological function by CSS scale.After the experiment,we counted the software establishment database with SPSS, carried on the statistical analysis.Results:By statistical analysis,the datum of3groups before therapies had no significant deviation,including sex,age and the value of HAMD,ADL and CSS.After the treatment,the clinical observations showed that these3groups’total score of HAMD decreased.Chinese medicine treatment group and control group both have obviously score increase in CSS and ADL scale.There are no significant difference in improving the depression symptom between Chinese medicine group and control group.But Chinese medicine group is better than the control group in improving neurological function.Also,Chaihu jia longgu muli decoction has no obvious side effect.Conclusions:Clinical curative effects show that chahu jia longgu muli decoction can ameliorate depressive emotion,and its curative effect on treating PSD is as the same as fluoxetine.There is no obvious side effect of chaihu jia longgu muli decoction.It is a safe and effective decoction to treat post-stoke depression.
