Objective:To investigate the early clinical outcome of mobile-bearing unicompartmental knee arthroplasty and total knee arthroplasty for the treatment of isolated compartmental knee osteoarthritis. Methods:The UKA group contained10patients(10knees) and the TKA group contained10patients(10knees).All the patients accepted knee arthroplasty in Traditional Chinese Medicine of Jiangsu Province. All the operation were conducted by the same operator. All the patients were well followed up(UKA group:average9.5months,TKA group:averagell.3months).The evaluation of two groups focued on HSS score, the knee maximum, fiexion, blood loss, and the decreased levels of postoperative hemoglobin. Results:Two groups recepted satisfactory clinical outcome. There were no complications such as infection, incision do not heal, and component loosening. Preoperative HSS score in two group had no significant difference.UKA:56.10±2.807, TKA:55.70±2.751, P>0.05). Posteoperative HSS score improved significantly in both group at the follou-up.(UKA, preoperation:56.10±2.807, postoperation:83.20±4.290, P<0.05; TKA, preoperation:55.7±2.751, postoperation:72.6±5.854, P<0.05).Compared with the TKA group,UKA group had less blood loss(UKA:177.50±40.637TKA:365.00±74.722, P<0.05)and less decrease of postoperative hemoglobin(UKA:16.00±9.055TKA:28.90±13.642, P<0.05).The postoperative HSS score of UKA group was statistics higher than TKA group(UKA:83.20±4.290, TKA:72.60±5.854, P<0.05),so as the maximum flextion of knee(UKA:112.00±5.869TKA:95.0±7.071, P<0.05).The postoperative HSS score and knee maximum flextion were higher in the UKA group which blood loss and decrease of postoperative hemoglobin were less. Conclusion:Regarding the treatment of isolated compartmental osteoarthritis,UKA is a minimal invasive surgery that has less blood loss, faster recovery and well-function.UKA has better clinical outcome than TKA in early term after operation. |
