Objective Along with the rapid development of economy of our country, the people’s living standards increase quickly. Chronic non-communicable diseases including diabetes mellitus (DM) become an important public health problem instead of acute infectious diseases. Impaired glucose regulation (IGR) is one of the clinical stage of development prior to the occurrence of diabetes, and is the early clinical mark of diabetes. The risk of IGR people to develop diabetes is significantly higher than the people with normal blood glucose. The International Diabetes Federation’s report pointed out that, almost all of the type2diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients are through IGR stage before the diabetes. While the course gradually extended, the transformation rate of diabetes increases year by year. The intervention inglucose regulation damaged stage intervention is an important method to prevent and delay the DM occurrence and development. If taking some early intervention, part of the IGR people will have the opportunity to back to normal sugar control mode. And if don’t effective intervention, a lot of people will irreversible become type2diabetes in a few years. Dietary nutrition intervention is a kind of feasible means of intervention to thelGR people.Method In order to evaluate to nutrition intervention mode in the community of IGR people and its effect, the research randomly chose57IGR persons in a community at Huangpu district as intervention group who carried on a special nutritional intervention, and chose58IGR persons in another similar community as control group who had regular chronic disease management. Before and after the intervention, dietary survey and physical examination were carried out in the two groups, in order to evaluate the effect of intervention. Results At6th month, the end of the intervention, the results of dietary survey showed the intervention group, compared with the control, mainly had low total energy intake, low fat intake, low sodium intake. And the results of physical examination showed the intervention group, had higher reduction on blood glucose, glucose tolerance test, HbAlc, BMI, waist, hip circumference, WHR, cholesterol, triglycerides and blood pressure than those in the control group (P<0.05).Conclusion The nutrition intervention to the community of IGR people mainly adjusted the energy intake, fat intake, sodium intakeof the IGR people, and effectively improved glucose metabolism level and reduced its risk factors. Reduce the development of diabetes risk.
