| Objective: To analyse the clinical characteristics and discuss the pathogenesis of outpatients with non-erosive reflux disease(NERD) and reflux esophagitis(RE) in Soochow gastroenterology clinic. Methods: From June 2014 to December 2014,gastroscopy and reflux disease diagnosis questionnaire(RDQ) survey of 89 patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease(GERD) in our hospital gastroenterology clinic were performed, the patients were divided into two groups, including NERD and RE. Then all of them were asked to complete the queationnaires, which include general demographic characteristics, gastroesophageal reflux-related symptoms,extra-esophageal symptoms, overlapping symptoms and effect of PPI treatment, for further analysis. Results: A total of 89 patients with GERD were investigated, the mean age was(45.2±15.6) years old,53.9% were NERD(48 cases),and 46.1% were RE(41 cases). Compared with NERD patients, there were more males in RE(68.3% vs 39.6%,P<0.05),and the proportion of overweight patients(BMI≥24kg/m2) was higher in RE(36.6% vs 16.7%, P<0.05). But in NERD,there were more proportion of patients with junior college or above(52.1% vs 22.0%,P<0.05). There was no difference in age, body mass index(BMI) or physical activity between NERD and RE groups. There was no difference in RDQ scores,or the incidence rates of endo-esophageal symptom such as regurgitation, acid reflux, heartburn and retrosternal pain between the two groups. The regurgitation was more severe in RE. The incidence of extra-esophageal symptoms and overlapping symptoms were similar in the two groups. The proportion of overlapping with functional dyspepsia was more than lower alimentary tract in both groups. In RE,the total rate of effect of PPI treatment was a little higher than in NERD,but no difference was found in effect of PPItreatment between the two groups. Conclusion: Most of GERD were NERD,There were more males and overweight patients in RE,The regurgitation was more severe in RE,But there was no significant difference in clinical characteristics between NERD and RE. In RE,The total rate of effect of PPI treatment was a little higher than in NERD. All of these suggested that there might be differences in pathogenesis between NERD and RE. |
